Employment in Mexico is recovering in technology sectors

Employment in Mexico seems to have entered a recovery phase and after hundreds of jobs were lost in the first two years of the health crisis, offers for various jobs increased significantly in March 2022.

According to data from Indeed – online job board – job listings on the platform increased by 38.6% in the third month of this year compared to 2020, even at pre-pandemic levels in February, which was the fifth straight month of growth for job offers.

Madalina Secareanu, Indeed’s senior manager of corporate communications for LATAM and Canada, asserted that new companies or companies looking to grow have mainly made new job offers, which “shows that employers are optimistic about the future”, especially in related ones areas of technology.

Well, according to the expert, the technology-related sectors are the ones with the highest growth as the pandemic has required people to make digital adjustments in their daily lives, in fact, the figures for March 2022 showed a 156% growth in software development-related jobs.

Likewise, information and documentation design jobs saw a 129% increase and IT operations and help desk jobs increased 123%. However, Indeed also indicated that there are sectors that have not yet achieved such a recovery, e.g. B. only retail jobs was up 3% and customer service was down 5%.

Therefore, Secareanu advised applicants to focus on and be selective about the listings they are applying for in order to “organize your search and, although this may seem contradictory, be selective about the listings they are applying for to proceed.”
